Work @ Home
Work @ Home is a Special Scheme which allows all Pudur Corporate employees to work from home for at least six months a year. This is one of our flagship schemes to ensure we have a happy and healthy work force. There are many attractions, for Pudur and employees alike, in having a work from home programme. For many, the benefit comes from a better work/life balance, but some of the other advantages include: increased employee productivity and motivation, not to mention the ‘green’ benefits.
Top 10 reasons why we love allowing our employees to work from Home:
1: Remote workers are less stressed – Arun Pudur our Founder, said he wanted to encourage remote working to empower his staff and as a demonstration to the rest of the company. “There’s less stress in the office and the workplace — people feel empowered to work in a way that suits them and suits the business.”
2: Remote workers are well connected – The prevalence of smartphones and social media mean you don’t have to be next to someone to communicate effectively. And new business trends likeremote administration, cloud-based project management, video conferencing, and BYOD are extending the effectiveness of remote work.
3: Remote workers cost less – Encouraging different ways of working allows companies to reduce their rent and property costs, according to Giridhar Patel, our Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer
4: Absenteeism is good – Not the AWOL type of absenteeism — this is “remote from the office” absenteeism. “The ability to work remotely eliminates the necessity for ‘presenteeism’ — being in the office as much as possible,” said Eliena Pudur, our Executive Deputy President, Luxury, Life Sciences and Director
5: The new agile workplace creates new jobs – New ways of working require new roles in the organization. “We’re seeing greater collaboration between HR, IT, property and facilities management and job titles like ‘workplace director’ making this agile workplace happen,” Tina Grace, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
6: Remote working provides choice – According to FaizalSalleh, our Executive Vice President Technology, Research, Robotics, Defense and Telecommunications Group, remote working provides choice. “Choice is very important. There shouldn’t be a technology-driven compulsion to work in a certain way.”
7: Companies benefit from happier remote employees – Try squeezing a de-stressing lunchtime doze into your office day. That’s right; it’s impossible. “It’s about working with the grain of people’s lives,” William II, our Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
8: Remote workers are more engaged – Arun Pudur added, “When you’re tweeting with people in your team close to midnight, it brings home that people are experiencing something beyond ‘doing work’ — they’re engaged in a different way.”
9: Remote venues are better than the office – We’ve all heard about how J.K. Rowling wrote a lot of Harry Potter in her localcoffee bar. Now office workers can get some of that action. “Flexible working isn’t just office or home — there may be somewhere near home with better facilities,” that is Pudur has many offices in different locations in Kuala Lumpur.
10: Commuting is bad for you – Even before the workday starts, telecommuting employees are better off than their physical commuting colleagues. According to the UK Office of National Statistics, “Commuters have lower life satisfaction, a lower sense that their daily activities are worthwhile, lower levels of happiness and higher anxiety on average than non- commuters.” And less commuting means a smaller carbon footprint, making tree-huggers happier.
More than 99% of our work is outsources and 99% of our employees work indirectly for Pudur Corporation, want to know why?
Arun Pudur the founder started his business and do most of the work himself, taking on the responsibility for marketing, sales, HR, technology, and other components of the business. As the business grows and he decided he can’t handle all the tasks, he hired someone to do the non-core work. And, in the spirit of stretching their cash, he usually tried to get the people he hired to follow in their footsteps – throwing as much work and a variety of work to his hires.
Interestingly, this is the very time that he asked himself, ‘Should I do it myself or should I outsource it?’ because the investment isn’t yet significant. Once he hired staff and provide office space, equipment, and training it is harder to walk away from your investment.
Top 5 Reasons why Pudur outsources its business:
The decision to outsource is a strategic one and not deciding to outsource is a tactical choice. In the short run, doing it yourself is easier and faster which begs the question, ‘Why consider outsourcing?’ The top 5 reasons are:
- Reduce and control operating costs –Pudur decided to “think big.” Just like Fortune 50 companies, they needed to identify their strengths and then find someone else to do everything else – outsource it.
- Improve company focus – By outsourcing non-core functions, Pudur can focus on growing the company.
- Gain access to world-class capabilities -showing that the company outsources its financial functions to a professional, bonded, insured service provider firm with secure technology will help potential investors realize that Pudur is running the business well.
- Free internal resources for other purposes–Founder like Arun Pudur who are great at their business but realize they are weak at finances or are too busy and don’t have time to do the books or have tried but failed and as a result have a financial mess to clean up.
- Resources are not available internally – Knowing what the finances really are at a given moment gave Pudur much more capability, not only for real-time decision making, but also for accurate decision-making and confidence in the decisions.
Today almost all non-core functions are outsourced by Pudur. We have established long-lasting relationship with some of these world class companies who have helped us grow from a small company to a Global conglomerate.
